Entertainment One: Difference between revisions

Entertainment One (also spelled as "eOne" and formerly Koch Entertainment and E1 Entertainment) began operations in 1973 as the music distributor ROW (Records on Wheels) in Canada, and was renamed to Entertainment One Fund. In June 2005 it acquired Koch Entertainment, thus expanding their distribution network in Canada and US. Throughout the years, eOne built regional home entertainment divisions in the UK (based on [[Contender Entertainment Group (UK)|Contender Entertainment Group]] and [[Maximum Entertainment (UK)|Maximum Entertainment]]), Benelux (based on [[RCV Entertainment (Netherlands)|RCV Entertainment]]), and Canada (formerly [[Seville Pictures (Canada)|Seville Pictures]]). In 2008, eOne also purchased the minor television companies Oasis International, [[Blueprint Entertainment (Canada)|Blueprint Entertainment]] and Barna-Alper. Since 2007, eOne has been distributing films for cinemas. They later acquired Hopscotch Films and Alliance Films in 2013, and [[Phase 4 Films (Canada)|Phase 4 Films]] and Force Four in 2014. When Kaboom, children's division of Phase 4 shuts down, Entertainment One continued to release Nelvana's programs, specials and movies on home video without using the logo of the said company, so the current logo will be continue to be used until 2018 before changing it the a new logo under license in Canada and the USA. Since 2016 when Kaboom! Entertainment shuts down, Entertainment One and Elevation are the Canadian distributors for Nelvana content. In 2019, after Hasbro acquired Entertainment One, future properties began using the eOne name, absorbing the [[Allspark Pictures|Allspark]] name with it a year later.
