Buena Vista International Television: Difference between revisions

Buena Vista International Television was the international distribution arm of [[Walt Disney Television]] established in 1985 to produce non-American series and distribute all Disney-owned libraries around the world. In 2007, this division was renamed to "Disney-ABC International Television" after Disney retired the "Buena Vista" brand. It was renamed again in 2011 to "[[Disney Media Distribution]]".

* So far, this has been spotted on a Thames Television airing of ''Roger Rabbit & the Secrets of Toontown''.

* It also appeared on some 1980s international prints of ''Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers'' and ''DuckTales''.

*On ''Playhouse Disney Australia'', the text is once again exclusively a copyright notice like with the ''Kelab Disney Malaysia'' variant but is all placed within to the bottom of the logo rather than each bit of the text being displayed separately. The logo is also displayed in a 16:9 widescreen ratio in this case as well.

'''Music/Sounds''': Normally, ether silence, the end theme of the show or the same ascending pings as the Walt Disney Television logo at the time.

* On many episodes of ''Mummies Alive!'' airing in Europe, the 3rd music of the 2nd [[Claster Television Incorporated|Claster Television]] logo is used, due to sloppy plastering.

* Disney+ prints of ''Smart Guy'' play the finishing of the warped 1987 Walt Disney Television music, but silent afterward.

'''Availability''': Common. Appears on a majority of Disney-owned material at the time, mostly international prints.

* This can generally be found on various Touchstone/Walt Disney Television series on DVD such as ''The Golden Girls'' (some episodes may use the 1998 logo), ''Home Improvement'', ''Disney's Adventures of the Gummi Bears'', ''TaleSpin'', some late season 1 and early season 2 episodes of ''DuckTales'', and ''Ellen'', as well as some episodes of ''Goof Troop'' on the Volume 1 DVD set.

* It is still seen on various Disney-owned programs and movies whenever aired on their overseas channels or affiliates.

* This appears on original prints of all episodes of ''Marsupilami'' even in North America, and also appears on the videocassette releases. It surprisingly appears on home video prints of ''Frankenpooh'', whereas most ''The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh'' videocassettes of the era use the standalone Walt Disney Television variant.

* This is also seen on various Disney/Touchstone/Hollywood Home Entertainment region 2 PAL DVD releases at the ends of ''A Goofy Movie'' (only on some prints), ''The Three Musketeers'', ''The Journey of Natty Gann'', and possibly ''Deep Rising''.

* It also appeared on various international non-American prints of DIC Entertainment shows produced during the time when Disney owned the studio, as such this appeared on ''The Wacky World of Tex Avery'', ''Mummies Alive!'', ''Sabrina: The Animated Series'' and ''Sherlock Holmes in the 22nd Century'' (Excluding the UK). These are sometimes retained on modern prints of these respective prints. It also appeared on some rebroadcasts of ''Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?'' and ''Double Dragon''.

* The 1992 logo is extremely rare, only appearing on ''The Grand Opening of Euro Disney''.

* The 1996 variant can be found on the ''Ellen'' episode "Two Mammograms and a Wedding" on the season 3 DVD.

* The 1995 version of this logo was seen on Lifetime and Lifetime Movie Network airings of ''Circle of Deceit''.

* Recently, it was spotted on several ''Dead Man's Gun'' episodes on ThisTV (followed by the 2008 MGM Worldwide Television Distribution logo), but the Alliance DVD releases don't retain it.

* It is surprisingly retained on current prints of episode 5 of ''Clerks: The Animated Series'' (including a El Rey Network broadcast, which was speedup with the ending theme playing over it due to time compression), before the short 2011 Miramax logo.

* It strangely plasters the Touchstone Pictures logo at the start of a 1992 Finland broadcast of ''Cocktail''.  

* It also appeared on one episode of ''Empty Nest'' when it aired on Laff.

*  After 2000, appearances were reduced to appearing on Disney-produced third-party programs like ''The Disney Club'' in Russia and Malaysia and the Australian ''Playhouse Disney'' TV series that aired on the Seven Network. However, this always isn't the case, as it can be oddly seen at the end of some older fullscreen prints of ''Cadet Kelly'' (2002), while others, mainly widescreen prints of the film, have the next logo.

'''Availability''': Common. As with the above, it  appears on many international prints of any Disney, Touchstone, ABC, and Buena Vista Television shows and Disney-owned movies on cable networks like Showtime and SundanceTV.

* This can also be seen on 1986-87, 1988-89 and some 1991-92 episodes of ''The Golden Girls'' on the DVD sets, reruns of ''Smart Guy'' on Family Channel Canada (plastering the Walt Disney Television logo on some episodes).

* Disney Channel USA airings of the Disney Channel Original Movie, ''Pixel Perfect'' has this at the end.

* This logo (with the WDTA logo) has been spotted on a May 24, 2018 Disney XD USA airing of the ''Lilo & Stitch: The Series'' episode "Phoon", probably due to using an international print of the latter episode (a similar case happened with the 2000 Walt Disney Television logo on the episode “Topper” on the aforementioned channel, also a result of using an international print of some sort).

* More recently, this logo was spotted on many episodes of ''My Wife & Kids'' on both MTV2 and VH1, but it doesn't appear on Fuse and Aspire airings of the show.  

* It appears at the end of ''Mimic 3: Sentinel'' (Dimension Films production) on the Lionsgate ''Mimic'' Blu-Ray triple feature set (and the 2020 Paramount Pictures reprint of it), before the 2011 short/silent Miramax logo.

* It is also rumored this appears on some Mill Creek and Kino Lorber Blu-Ray releases of Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures titles such as ''Takin' Care Of Business'', ''Mr. Destiny'', ''Tough Guys'', ''The Puppet Masters'', ''Deep Rising'', and possibly others.

* This made a surprise appearance on a SundanceTV airing of the ''My So-Called Life'' episode "Life of Brian".

* The short animated silent variant is extremely rare, but it can be found at the end of the video release of ''The Book of Pooh: A Valentine for Eeyore'', not from the main show itself, but instead of a ''Rolie Polie Olie'' episode that appeared after the program. It appears after the end credits.

* It also appeared on later international, non-American airings of DIC Entertainment-produced shows. This logo was used on ''Sonic Underground'', ''Archie's Weird Mysteries'', and season 3 of ''The New Adventures of Madeline''. This also appeared on a 2002 Channel 5 UK airing of ''Madeline: Lost in Paris''. It made a surprise appearance on the UK Prism Leisure DVD release of ''Inspector Gadget's Last Case'', as well as a German DVD of the same movie. This is sometimes retained on some TV airings and on DVDs. It was also seen on Boomerang UK airings of the original ''Inspector Gadget'' after the DiC/Saban/Fox Kids logos.  

* On Non-Disney acquired shows, this logo appeared on international airings of ''RoboRoach'', ''Gadget & the Gadgetinis'' and the first season of the French dub of ''Sonic X'' (Jetix Europe dubbed the series in the country)

** In a bizarre case in terms to third-party shows, this is also seen on Treehouse Direct Brazil prints of ''The Fairly OddParents'' (Viacom owns the series, but the series also aired on some Disney Channel's overseas as Nelvana distributes the first 4 seasons and season 5 before "Mooving Day" outside the United States, a possible reason why this logo appeared).

* This was also spotted at the end of a Bulgarian airing of the 2001 TV movie ''Three Days''.  

* It can be also seen on the last two seasons of ''Alias'' on Fox Corporation's Tubi, as well as on Disney+'s prints of the said show overseas (although the first two seasons cut this and the Touchstone Television logo before it, strangely).  

'''Availability''': Rare. It only appears on international prints of ex-[[Saban Entertainment|Saban]] programs, [[SIP Animation]] shows, Fox Kids/Jetix co-productions, ex-[[TVS Television]] programs, as well as then-newer Fox Kids/Jetix shows distributed by BVIT, Other than that, pretty much anything owned by ABC Family Worldwide at the time will likely feature this.

** On SIP Animation-produced programs, this logo appears on the second season of ''What's with Andy?'', ''The Tofus'', and the first season of ''W.I.T.C.H.'' (The UK DVD releases don't have the logo at all).

** ''Tutenstein'' sometimes used this logo, alongside ''Sonic X'' (although not every DVD release will have it). It might appear on ''Shaman King'' as well, although so far it's unknown if it does.

** This also appeared on ''Power Rangers'' episodes from this time period, appearing on ''Dino Thunder'', ''S.P.D.'' and ''Majestic Force'', even in the United States, although modern prints of these seasons plasters it with the [[Saban Brands]] logo.

** Some DVD releases of ''RoboRoach'' and ''Gadget & the Gadgetinis'' replace the previous logo with this logo.

** The 16:9 version only appears on ''Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!'' (This is retained on Disney+'s prints, although cropped in 4:3).

** It also appeared on the North American complete boxset of the 1967-1970 ''Spider-Man'' series.

** ''A.T.O.M. - Alpha Teens on Machines'' doesn't use the logo at all, even on free TV and on DVD releases.

'''Music/Sounds''': Silence or the end theme of the show. On sale promos, we hear a drum roll, followed by two rather primitive-sounding synth notes (the second held for longer), ending with a string sounder.

* One episode of ''Dirt'' on international airings use the music of the 5th FX Networks logo music due to a reverse plaster error.

* On current prints of the TV movie ''Model Behavior'', the short Walt Disney Television music is heard due to plastering the 1986 WDT and 1995 WDT/BVI logos.

* On an international print of an unknown ''Hannah Montana'' episode, the logo has the short 2002 Disney Channel Original theme, due to bad plastering.

'''Availability''': Uncommon, despite its one-year life span. Like the 2nd and 3rd logos, this is seen on international airings of Disney, ABC, Touchstone TV series and movies, though some international channels may not have this at the end.

* It's seen on some international shows such as Polish airings of ''The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh'' and Polish airings of older Disney cartoons which plastered the 2nd and 3rd logos.

* Season 1 episodes of ''Mickey Mouse Clubhouse'' and ''Handy Manny'' also have this at the end, plastering the [[Playhouse Disney Originals]] logo.

* This also plastered the [[Touchstone Pictures]] and [[Amblin Entertainment]] logos on a Christmas Eve airing of ''Who Framed Roger Rabbit'' on BBC 2 a few years back.

* It is rumored this appears on a few Mill Creek and Kino-Lorber Blu-Ray releases of Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures titles such as ''Big Business'', ''Firebirds'', ''Prefontaine'', ''Scenes From a Mall'', and possibly others.

* It can be seen at the end of HBO and Cinemax airings of ''Mr. Destiny'' (1990).

* The "Servicing the Distribution" version is rarer than the previous logo. It appears on some Jetix Europe co-productions, including series 2 of ''W.I.T.C.H.'', ''Power Rangers Operation Overdrive'', and Series 1 of ''Pucca'', the latter of which retains the logo on some official YouTube prints of the series. It's unknown if other shows from this time period, like ''Oban-Star Racers'', used this logo.
